I’m a single mum with a 5 year old. She hasn’t seen her real dad for a few years now. I don’t think she remembers her dad very well but she seems to be crying out for a dad of any sort.

she always asks me why she hasn’t got a real dad. She lashes out at me. She clings to any male she sees, it break she my heart.

Anyone else experience this or have any advice?

When my parents divorced i clung to my dad. My mums first boyfriend was a man called mark with a german shepherd max. I met him a handful of times and when he left followed him up the road.

I think kids get attached quickly. They want to feel safe and secure.

Do you have a children’s centre near you. In some they have leaflets designed specifically for helping parents deal with awkward situations.

    Thank you for commenting.

was there any domestic violence can I ask?

Her father was horrible. An ex partner of mine was also horrible.

Yet she still blames me and wants a dad.

I’m going on parenting course but unfortunately it won’t begin until September. I’ve also looked for single parent groups in my area for advice and support, but the closest one is an hour drive from my home.
