New to here and looking for some advice please? I work away five days a week and stay over in the locality to my job three nights. My girlfriend as suggested i stay at hers three nights as we don’t get to see as much of each other anymore. Was wondering would this effect her tax credits? Going forward yes will be living together full but we are seeing this as a “trial period” to see. Seems to be a very grey area and any advice would be truly appreciated please

She will be treading a thin line as there’s no minimum number of nights , purely that she’s in a relationship so should be making a joint not single claim.

The rules are not cut and dry. Her not disclosing is fraudulent and given its half the week you’d be very hard pushed to suggest this isn’t living together.  Ad hoc once a month is very different.

Could you perhaps simply give her what she’d lose asmbiard/lodgings? Then it could be above board. However even this runs risks associated if she stops tax credits she’d have to go to universal credit which as ward less if she had to start a new claim if the relationship failed.

    Do it.

If you don’t chance it you’ll never know.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Money soon sorts itself out…..
