    Hi,

I was granted legal aid for a child arrangement order when my daughter was about 1yo, but everything was delayed due to covid.

my daughter is now nearly 3yo, and still waiting for a court date, all Soliciter keeps saying is he will chase it up for an update / timeline.

I’m looking to return to work part time from February so she can get the 30 free hours, but how will this effect my legal aid?

just worried about getting a job, and being stuck with a solicitor bill if legal aid reduced or cancelled.

Hi @Michael, sorry to see you didn’t get replies- you must have posted at a quiet time! You can put your estimated income into this calculator to see if you might be eligible for legal aid when you start work. Check if you can get legal aid – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If it helps I had a meeting with a solicitor last week.

I work 30 hours a week so between full and part time and top up income through uc. I would not get legal aid at the moment based on the need for universal credit alone and it is really hard to get.

But I’m not sure if it’s already been granted. I’d ask your solicitor who would be able to advise as its next to impossible to get if your working unless there’s evidence of domestic abuse violence as the reason legal aid was granted rather than income.they would be your best bet.
