    Hi

Due to my disabled son going tp residential school in september i am looking to go back to work. This would mean leaving my 14 year old on her own overnight which i dont want to do.

Can i claim childcare costs for this? It seems too young to leave her overnight yet most jobs seem to require overnight work.

If i pay someone to come in it nakes it not worth going to work.

Their father is dead so obviously cannot help

My understanding is that it is not ‘illegal‘ to leave children under 16 years alone overnight however it is your responsibility to ensure their safety and NSPCC recommendations are that they should not be left overnight alone. If anything were to happen, you would be held responsible and accountable for the decision you made. What type of work do you do which means you are unable to work during the day?
