Hi, I’m the chair of a community centre near Twickenham Middx. I am also a single parent (childen grown up) I was a member of Gingerbread a very active member. I am looking for lone parents who might like to consider setting up a group.  I’m not sure if Gingerbread can help with room funding etc. Is anyone interested? Regards Jan

    Hi Jan,

It’s great that you’re thinking of setting up a group, I’m the coordinator for the Somerset group, I found it best just to take the leap and set one up yourself, it’s easy to do, here’s a link:

Once your group is set up then people will find you through gingerbread, it maybe quite difficult to gain ground by using the forum as the posts are easily lost due to way the forum works, that is likely to change soon though.

We don’t get funding for rooms etc from gingerbread, our meets are at different venues, some cost and some don’t but essentially we are self funding. Gingerbread do occasionally offer discounts to events such as a theatre but these tend to be London based.

    Hope this helps

    Mark
