I have just signed up to do a Master’s Degree at the Open University. I intend to do the course whilst working part time in the Autumn. I want to apply for the post graduate loan to pay for the course, but I can’t even apply for the loan until June. However, I have to pay for the first module by the end of April, but I don’t have the money to do that yet.

Has anyone else been in the same predicament? Is there a way to get a 0% interest bridging loan from somewhere?

    What would you advise?

You can contact the OU themselves, maybe they can offer a hardship fund. Also on this website under information, you can look for grants.

I did suggest before to open a got fund page for gingerbread member to access funds for this very reason. No one responded.

May ring the gingerbread helping and see if they can give professional advice.

    Good luck thanks Katherine

Just found out the OU have a loan scheme to pay tuition fees. It works as a 0% bridging loan and I don’t have to pay it back until I start the course in October when hopefully I will have received the graduate loan by then.

    Thanks for the advice though.
