I’m a 25 year old single mum to an almost three year old and I haaaaate the loneliness. He’s been quite hard work lately and so last week we took it easy, only for me to feel a bit mad at the end when we went over to a friend’s house for dinner and I got really anxious about everything I was saying (as the only adults I’d spoken to all week worked in the shops I was in/are related to me or my toddler).
I keep reading online about single parents who buddy up and live in a house share together and I would love to do the same. I hate that my youth is wasted on being cooped up in a house that’s way too big for what we need. I’m based in Nottingham, currently on dss, and intend to study a masters when my kid’s school-age. I’ve found plenty of resources for people wanting to do similar in London but nothing local. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone in the Nottingham area happen to see this and want to do it? How can I find people to join in?
I un able to give you advice, Hey its just not youth, us older parents have the same issue, sorry. It is something i would truly love myself. I am London based, so love to know if you found any where doing this.
Are you on benefits, because for me thats is the major issue, all agencies want credit and reference checks, and will not consider benefits.
I feel trapped, as my rent is so high, so I will struggle to pay the amount when back to work, It a catch 22, and something I wish the government would look into.
Good luck with your masters, and finding a house share.
