<span style=”font-size: 17px;”>Being a single dad to a 5 year old daughter and an 8 year old son is very challenging. I currently live with my girlfriend who has 3 daughters of her own, two of which are close in age to my daughter.  Therefore,  my son is always begging for every ounce of my attention,  yet my daughter is quite content playing with my girlfriend’s daughters who are similar in age and never really seeking my attention.  However,  my girlfriend says frequently that I care more about my son than I do my daughter.  Yes, I do find myself giving time to my son for a couple of reasons: 1. He is so persistent that I end up giving in and participating in his activity. 2. He is the only boy in the house and I feel that he feels outnumbered.  3. My daughter seems to be quite content with being with the other girls and rarely seeks my attention.  </span>

<span style=”font-size: 17px;”>However,  I know that I need to tell my son to back off a bit and understand that his sister needs me just as much as he feels he needs me. </span>

<span style=”font-size: 17px;”>My daughter seems genuinely happy and content. But I know that I need to be there for her and do more things with her, just the two of us. I want to develop a rock solid bond with her like I have with my son. </span>

<span style=”font-size: 17px;”>I guess I am just seeking advice on what to do. </span><!–/data/user/0/–>

I am going through a separation at the moment, but still living in family home. Once I move out I can imagine it’s going to be difficult keeping both my son (10) and daughter (8) happy as they both have different interests. I want to do things as a family and I know it will get harder.

sorry haven’t been of much help
