How can I help a friend who is living alone with their child and pet dog? They have no family living in this country and they tell me that I am their best friend, even though we have recently fell out for a number of reasons.
It is likely that she will be on her own on Christmas Day. I can’t spend time with her as I am with my own family. I feel like I have a moral obligation to help her and I can t stand the idea of anyone spending Christmas alone. Any advice would be useful.
This is a.difficult one as I found myself in same position when my child was very small. My old school friend rang for a chat and next thing we were having lunch with her and her extended family . I think there was 20 of us sitting down for a lovely unexpected lunch. I took a home made dish which was fruits steeped in rum. I made this in the. Summer . I had made plans but my friend said my daughter should be out and about at Xmas.
I think it’s difficult and sad when people are on their own and I’m not just talking about Christmas. Perhaps you can look and see what’s going on in your area that she could go to and maybe if you could manage it invite her for xmas Eve tea . make some christmas decs from salted dough with kids . Try Jane bull home made Xmas . Lots of fun too
Have a look online and it’s fashionable to.open aChristmas Eve box. My daughter will have a Xmas pj and a Xmas blanket with some bits from £ shop called tiger . Everything sourced is in sale. I have also ,done this for her cousins . Last year we made Xmas wreath s from pine cones we found in park . This year we will be making our own wrapping paper from Brown paper, cut out potato and paint. Snow men lanterns from old coffee jars that can be put out in evening with battery tea light . This involves painting inside white with some sand and painting face on outside
I don’t think I can help her anymore apart from chat if she needs to. The Christmas eve boxes are a great idea. There is not gonna be a Christmas Eve party but it’s ok a lot of people are making plans with each other which is cool. 😀
