Hi, I’m a single parent with an 11 year old boy and 10 year old daughter. I haven’t been able to treat them to a holiday abroad for the past 2 years so would love to do this summer. This would be my first time taking them abroad on my own and I am very nervous and anxious to say the least about doing it.

Ive looked at the website designed for single parents holidaying abroad but the cost was shocking!! Anyone have any advice on taking kids abroad on their own orang tips on where to take them, anything really would be greatly appreciated.

I’d personally avoid the single parent sites for holidays.  They’re way  more  expensive.

I looked on general holiday sites/supermarkets/comparison sites and compared prices; it was cheaper to go with a package deal for me and could have three in a room.

I was a bit nervous about this. I was worried what would happen to my son if I was ill etc.

when we go abroad, I choose somewhere where most people in the hotel speak some English, and I choose a resort that has plenty of flights from our local airport. That way, if I do have a problem, my sister will be able to get to my son quickly.

I also make sure sis is not on holiday the same week, and that my son knows where her phone number is, together with all the tickets and passports.
