Hi, im looking for some advice or just someone to speak to. I have two girls both very strong minded, and challenging, i have trouble putting them to bed, tonight being the exception, but there will be bed swapping at around 4 am, and tantrums in the morning about school, getting dressed anything they are asked to do basically. I work full time and have no support, no family or friends that can help, some help from work colleague who suggested this site. Im exhausted but i dont want to tell anyone for fear of reprocutions.
Yes, i work fulltime, so yes manic rush, they do get their jammies on when they get in we dont get in untill gone six so dark, well the eight year old does, she likes her comfies, trouble is the technology, there fine and then when its time for bed, massive flare up, so i have tried doing homework bath then bed, but they just squabble for hours, and yes only one spare room and my room so bed hopping, yes bed same time but younger one (5) is the main issue. thank you for talking btw
We had similar issues here (9 & 5), I also work. House rule now is no tech/tablets in the week. Couldn’t get a good routine with tech and we were all exhausted and ratty. Since putting the tablets and phones away, things have got much calmer and we’re all getting more sleep. Good luck
I had a something similar thing with my daughter, she’d be up and down for ages after bedtime but she was more along the lines of ‘mummy I miss you/can I have a bit longer/can I tell you something/I heard a noise……….’ you get the idea. I also put a ban on technology on school nights or if she does get her kindle it’s away an hour before bed and she’s only allowed colouring etc, anything calming, definitely no games and no watching, she also has to sit with me but we both like that so all good there lol. It’s not perfect, it took some enforcing as her dad didn’t follow the same rule, and some nights are worse than others but she in herself is calmer and relaxes much easier. I also work full time and fully understand the exhausted part.
