Hi I’m new on here. I’m hoping someone can give me some advice. My husband left in January. I’m a stay at home mum to a 2 year old.
I made a claim for income support and they’ve called me saying it might be rejected but I don’t understand their reasoning.
Basically all the bills, mortgage etc are in my name and always have been. Since he left he’s been paying me a lump sum to cover all these until I sort myself out financially. He doesn’t pay a set amount of child maintenance as that’s just part of the lump sum he gives me. Income support woman said my claim might be rejected because he’s paying my bills via that lump sum! I’m so confused ! I asked her what will I do if he just decides to stop paying me (as he might do as he’s living with his parents currently but wants to move out) and she said i might have to make a new application from scratch (dear god their admin system is so inefficient why wouldn’t they just reopen the old claim and update it !!!!)
Anyway she said she’s referred my application to the decision makers so I’m not entirely sure if she knows what she’s talking about !
Does this sound normal???? I thought child maintenance wasn’t taken into account when making an income support claim so what is the difference here as technically you could say the amount is CM.
