    Hello everyone,

I’m fairly new to the site and finding my way around the forums. It’s great to find such a supportive environment, and I hope to find some ways to contribute.

Quick intro: Dad to two girls (ages 9 and 8) and have been flying solo for almost 3 years.  Juggling parenting, work and a little bit of studying. Live in central London (W1) and unfortunately don’t have family close by but have some good (parenty) friends who help out with occasional play dates and sleepovers. My biggest struggle is not being able to switch off, relax and recharge at the end of the day, so I often feel as if my batteries are running at ‘half full’.

I do know some single parents (2) from the school and whilst we socialise at events with ‘double parents’, the experience of ‘single parenting’ is not discussed. Perhaps it’s considered an ‘off limits’ topic for some people!? Don’t know if others have this experience too?

I think people generally don’t want to pry. Plus most “double parents” are busy too. Perhaps they are worried that discussing single parenthood  would mean being asked for help.

And some people hold pretty strong views so I find it safer to avoid the subject altogether.  We’re a bit like politics & religion  😀

Hi! I’m new too, so far seems like everyone is really supportive and friendly here 🙂
