Evening all, my name’s Simon, I’m 34, not new to Gingerbread but newly back.

I’m a full time dad to my 7 year old son. I work full time as a telecoms and broadband engineer.

I’ve only lived this way for 2.5 years and I don’t really know anyone bar my family. Just wondering if anyone else Mum’s or Dad’s need new friends like I do… to go places with the kids.  Form a friendship ect?

Feel free to inbox or reply here.

Hey I’m fine thank you, yourself? Yes completely agree this forum can be a bit hit or miss but it depends on how many people get to see the post before others are submitted. The summer holidays have been ok for me as my mums a huge help for when I’m working! How about you?

Yes my Mum is a legend too! I’ve ended up taking quite a bit of time off this holiday juggling clubs etc. Trying to get my job done in between….ha! I did sign up for the Portsmouth/Fareham group that meets up…I think but no-one ever got back to me. Maybe the pandemic killed it…or do you know of any local meet ups?

Sorry. I’m in South London. Is there any way of meeting up with parents from school? Start a school WhatsApp group for your sons’ years? Or via their hobbies/interests if that’s appropriate?

Try again with the Gingerbread group? Or this was the next one on Google.

I wasn’t aware that there was a Portsmouth/Fareham group that meets up?! I’ve only been this way for 2 and a half years though and a year of that was lockdown lol.

Andrew, school wise my mum does the drop offs and pick ups as I also work full time so meeting others is quite slim. I’ve taken my son to the birthday invites he received however most of the parents have seemed to have formed their ‘groups’ already 😆
