My children start Year 5 and Reception this week/next week. It will be the first day of school for my daughter. My wife is not allowing me to attend either drop-off or collection. They currently do not live with me and I do not have contact. I’m keeping my mind off it by working both days and am planning to do something nice later. I wondered if anyone is going through the same. It will be the first time I am not taking them to school at the start of term/year. I appreciate that there are lots of other opportunities etc., but I think the hardest thing is not being there for my 4 year-old’s special day.
recently I been thinking of a way to have more time the kids without arguing with ex. and one good way is ask school if you can volunteer to help out in the class. as your child is starting school you can ask the teacher/headteacher if you can spend some time in the class to see how your child is getting on. do you have a court order in place? if being present at drop off or pick up will cause tensions, you can turn up a little later in the morning after classes started.
