Abusive ex has quit his job in order to stop paying. Don’t know how this has come about, I suspect redundancy and therefore has a large pay out and can afford not to work for a while. No idea what the plans will be after that. Suspect he will do something else to avoid.

Is there anything I can do? Is there any point calling CMS? Is there any financial support available when this happens?

My kids are distraught as it means a big lifestyle change.

    Hi C

It’s best to call the cms. If he goes onto benefits they will still deduct cm. Obviously it will be at the flat rate but at least he’ll be on their system

Thank you. He won’t claim benefits because he doesn’t need to. He still has big house, expensive car and assets etc. I feel very very vulnerable while he gets away with it. It’s so unjust.

If you were married you’d have a claim if you hadn’t entered into a clean break arrangement.

Otherwise its a case of in the meantime chasing cms to keep checking if he’s being paid via hmrc.

I feel your pain! Cm are rubbish in my case! Ex has £13k in arrears and nothing being done. He changes jobs every 3months to avoid payments and gets away with it… cm take money out of his wages directly. Last month I got £130 so that was split by our 3children! He can change jobs every 3 months and that’s it, nothing I can do about it. It’s not right at all.

    Hi Najafbutt

Personally I find your comments rather rude.

We are here to give advice and support the best we can.

Everyone’s experience is different and therefore to say what you said is wrong

Thank you for all your advice.

I was unaware of notional income, have to research this.

I have already pressed CMS on the issue of diverted income, as I’m 99.9% sure ex fiddled income so that more was sent off into pension pots but they were useless and insisted there was nothing that could be done.
