    So I’ve been offered a 2 bedroom new build flat through a housing association after being on the council list. The rent is £128 a week and I can move in whenever.

    I work part time and earn just over £1000 a month. I’m pregnant and due in February and I don’t want to take the property if I can’t afford it.

    Does anyone know what entitlements single parents get because I’ve heard so many different things

    You would need to use a benefits calculator as once you’ve had the baby it’s different to before.

    You’d be entitled to universal credit once baby arrives.

    I’d imagine that you’d claim for housing benefit too. And once you’ve had baby you would be eligible. Not necessarily beforehand.

    You need to go to the Entitled to website;

    or book an appointment with Cutizens Advice Bureau or Welfare Rights Unit if you have one in your local authority. Some children’s centres in my locality have benefit surgeries.
