I’m a nurse, work part time and receive WTC. I’ve just seen an appeal for nurses to sign up as covid vaccinators, and would like to do this. However, I’m concerned that if my income goes over the WTC limit, my tax credits will stop and I won’t be able to get them back (I do not want to get into universal credit territory). I was once told by someone at the DWP that you can remain eligible for tax credits if your income rises, you just won’t get them, but I don’t altogether trust this advice.

So my question is: if my income goes up temporarily, and rises above the WTC threshold, would I be able to return to getting WTC once it went down again, or would I be told I’d have to go onto UC? I’ve googled madly for hours and simply can’t find this piece of information. Many thanks.
