    Hi

I just wondered if anyone on here has been through the process to receive discretionary housing payments? I am privately renting and the rent exceeds the amount of housing benefit I receive. At the moment I have some help to cover this and am hoping to get some work when my child (currently 18months) starts nursery. The work I’m hoping to do is self employed and hours may fluctuate so I am a bit worried that I may not have the short fall for the rent. I’ve been looking online for cheaper properties but they aren’t much cheaper and roughly the same prices even in the wider area. I worry discretionary payments are only temporary and don’t want to find myself in debt or struggling to find the short fall. Does anyone have any advice on this topic please? Feel free to comment. Many thanks
