    Hi

looking for some help / advice on how to deal with a challenging 11year old before my hair turns completely grey.  She is hitting, slapping, verbally abusive and in public she deliberately tries to embarrass me. She has had a difficult 6 years with her dad consistently letting her down and is no longer able to see him due to his alcohol / violence issues. Recently she was assessed by cahms and the suspect she is on the austistic spectrum. What is the best way to deal with these out bursts? And is there any support I can get?

    Hi

Are Cahms offering any support? If they suspect she is on the autistic spectrum, they should be offering support or at least guiding you in the right direction of where to get it? How about school? Has she had any issues there and do they have a family support worker or counsellor attached to the school? If she’s had a difficult time with her father then i guess it would be even more difficult for her to understand her feelings about it if she has autistic tendencies. The national autistic society have a helpline which you can probably find through google and it may be worth calling them for advice even if you don’t have a firm diagnosis yet.
