    Homeward bound

I’m in the process of returning to the UK after almost 25 years.

I’ll be returning without anywhere to live, but will need to rent somewhere. I have property abroad, but it’s not sold yet, and is in my partners name, so should have no bearing on any credits I can receive.

I’m the father who will be returning with the children, alone, until my wife receives the Home Office approval to join us, which could take 2 years.

I have three year old twins and a two year old daughter.

I have of course no job, but will find something.

Ive been reading about a 16 hour and 30 hour working week. I’ve also found out not to have more than 16k in the account.

Are credits a tax break off your earnings, or cash payable? Do I have to have a job to receive them, or can I still receive them being unemployed?

I’d appreciate any other info on this subject.

    Thanking you.
