Hi. I’m a widow with 5 year old child. Since 3 years I am trying to get council house.  I have one bedroom flat where my child still sleeps with me.  Is there anything I can do to get on band A ? Unfortunately I cannot afford renting bigger flat or house . I would be grateful for any tips.  Thank you . Take care all !

Do you live in London? The trouble is you aren’t over crowded by London standards.

You could advertise to swap with someone  in an area where housing is more available.

What does your council or housing association say?

I have been contacted them in December and all what they said is in a few weeks I will get something bigger.  But its already almost 5 months .

Given the current situation, I guess your council have their hands full. People in crisis over cv will come first I imagine.

December is four months, and we’ve had Xmas & new year in that time, so I think you’ll just have to wait it out.

    It’s frustrating.
