    Hi,

So basically I’ve been separated from my ex husband for over 5 years and divorced for 2/3. He paid for the divorce as I wasn’t in a financial position to contribute, although I did agree to the divorce, I didn’t hear anymore about it until this week when I have now been asked to pay for my half 2/3 years after the divorce went through, my question is if this is something he would be likely to be successful with in court, I’ve agreed to pay what I can, as and when I can but my financial position has not improved.

Would be great if anyone has any advice, thanks.

DId you have a written agreement in any form to say that you’d repay this? If so then yes that would be deemed a contract. Verbally is harder to rpove…

Do you claim spousal and child maintenance?

No there has been no written agreement saying I would pay anything towards it. I just said at the time that I would pay some money towards it as and when i can.

I get child maintanance and there hasn’t been any issue with that to be fair, just for some reason he’s really decided to chase up this money from years ago.

Thank you for your reply by the way

Hello, the Court fees for the divorce is approx £550? Surely it wouldn’t be worth his while pursuing this through the courts.

Normallu it’s the Applicant ie the person who wanted the divorce who would be expected to pay the court fees
