Having kids is much harder than pretty much anyone actually admits and most people who are gleefully happy and telling you how happy they are, are usually hiding something! There is always someone to talk to, be it a support organisation, a friend or relative. They will be happy to listen to you, and if not (for whatever reason, everyone has theyir own stress sources) then ask someone else.

Life can be tough but we get through, no matter how unglamorous a solution, there is always a way. Keep talking and the weight will start to ease off your shoulders.

What age is your child(ren) Hayley? Before I assume it’s the COVID isolation that’s driving you nuts, is that the case?

That’s a really tiring age. It’s going to get better, much better. At 18months, they’re learning so much about themselves snd their environment. You need eyes in your behind.

sometimes it helps just to get outdoors, take the toddler for a long walk, tire them out then they’ll sleep which will give you a break. Have you got friends with kids to meet up with? Or are your parents local?

    Hi Hayley

What is it that you’re not coping with? Has something recently happened to make you feel that way?

It is tough being a single parent especially during these times. It’s hard to wake up everyday and be motivated to do it all on your own.

Are there family or friends that you can speak to or meet with? Just to give you a little break and adult conversation.

I hope that things change and that you feel ok soon x

    Hi there,

It’s so difficult doing it on your own and I completly understand the feeling of ‘not being good enough’. You sound very low and most likely very tired. As all the others have said, it will get easier. There are always struggles to get through but remind yourself that you ARE strong and nothing is permanent. The clouds will pass. In the meantime try to be kind to yourself. Forgive yourself and stop judging yourself. Write this day/week/month off as a difficult one. Even a difficult year. Look at the bigger picture – the future will get brighter.

    Lots of love.

    Hi Haley1o5

I’m Michelle one of the Moderators here.  It may be that you could benefit from some emotional support.  Family Lives have a helpline for parents.  Here are their details.

Family Lives provide general support to families on issues around parenting, emotional support and just generally coping as a parent https://www.familylives.org.uk/  0808 800 2222

You could also check whether there’s a Gingerbread group local to you.  Here’s a link to the group finder:

    Single parent groups – Gingerbread

I hope that helps a bit

    Kind regards

    Michelle
