My child sees her father in a contact centre, unfortunately it’s not the one I wanted my child to go to it’s a charity run one and the management and support/care is appalling and non existent. They let my child eat popcorn, she is 2 and this is a choking hazard. They take pictures of my child and her father and he puts them on social media which is a breach of the court order we have and they never asked for my permission to take pictures of her. They never let me or my child have a settling in session to look around and get ourselves familiar with the people and room she will be in. They never asked for her medical history. One day she was really poorly and they let her sleep on the couch her temperature was over 40 and they didn’t tell me. I picked her up one day and she had leaked in her nappy which she never does if it is changed regularly. My child has been meeting with her fathers family without even telling me! I am shocked that I wasn’t informed and now there is a massive lack of trust. I am her main care giver and provider and she resides with me full time I deserve to know who she’s with and they should always check with me first. I do not want to take her back now that they have breached my trust what do I do?

Don’t let her go back there. You might need to obtain a court order. Do you have a McKenzie Friend who could advise you? Are Social Services involved? Sorry i don’t know what to suggest. Can you get another contact centre?

We are in the process of a child arrangement order in family court. So for now it’s ordered he sees her an hour a week at a contact centre. I’ve informed CAFCASS and my solicitor however I think there both off work till 4th January. I am not going to take her back for her next contact session until I’ve had some advice and instruction from my solicitor. I definitely want to move her to another contact centre. I just hope it doesn’t get me in trouble with the child arrangement order in place. Thank you for your help.

I’m glad to be of some help. I don’t know but I’m guessing the courts etc will be understanding bearing in mind what’s going on. You might need to apply for a change to the CAO.

Or let the court know what you are planning. A McKenzie Friend should be able to advise you further. I am finding that having everything documented and being up-front is the best way forward. To be honest i can’t see why you wouldn’t be allowed to change the CC.  There’s also a complaint to be made about the CC. Would it be worth getting the local authority involved? They cannot operate like that. Speak to someone more senior in the charity.

Remember a McKenzie Friend is cheaper than a solicitor if you are worried about costs etc.
