I’m still living with my stbx, I’m looking at buying him out and taking on the mortgage but to do this I need to show 3 months of what I will be receiving in benefits and maintenance. As we still live together he doesn’t pay maintenance as we share bills etc and i can’t claim for child benefit etc because we dont qualify both living together. It feels like the chicken and the egg and I dont know how to proceed. Any ideas? Thanks, x
I am now in the exact same boat as you! Do you have any advice for me? I dont know where to start!!! Really unsure how to go forward as you say chicken and the egg !!!
Hi, I received Universal Credit whilst I was still living with my ex. I was then able to get a mortgage using the money I was entitled to from my share of the house (joint mortgage) as a deposit. Good luck.
Teaandcake can I ask if you get any help with the mortgage or do you have to pay it by yourself? I’m wondering how I could manage if I was lucky enough to get a mortgage. Thanks xx
Thank you. I’ve had a look at the claim form, it asks who you live with so I assume you just fill it in as though you live alone?
Also does anyone know – It also says you can claim up to 85% of your childcare costs. I was going to ask my ex to pay half but if that’s true then I dont need to?
