    Hi,

i have recently started a new job working 12 hours a week. I am a single mother with a 11 month old daughter. I have done the change in circumstances online universal credit however I have a seen that when claiming universal credit childcare you have to pay the fees first then claim it back and you get it the following months. I don’t know how they expect me to pay 300 upfront and get it the month after when I only get paid 456 a month. I received the first month as a flexible support fund but I cannot claim it so I am back in the same position as I was before. It seems so hard to go into work and better my self I don’t know how I’m going to do it. Does anybody have any advice?

    Hi,

I’ve just started with applying to all possible benefits myself so will probably face the same problem as you do. I’ve recently separated with my partner and I am alone with my 19 month old.  How are you coping with going back work? Is your daughter in the nursery? I’m sorry its a bit off – topic but I’m terrified how I will cope with everything. I’m also an expat with no family around and feel very desperate and stressed😢

Have you enquired about vouchers?  That may help in the interim.  You can apply for an advance on universal credit.
