Good morning. A friend asked me if I know of any churches in London where a single (unmarried) mum would be welcome and not judged. I would have thought a church would be a great way to meet other mums, go to mums and toddlers etc. Can anyone recommend anywhere?  Thank you. Fee

Any church not accepting anyone is by definition not Christian. I don’t know where you live, but most churches I know are so desperate for bums on seats they’d drag you off the street if you were a lesbian atheist baby-eating squid. Don’t pre-judge and give them a go if that’s what floats your boat.

I  am not a Christian nor am I Religious but my little girl loves going to Sunday school.she gets up and goes to the front and starts dancing during hymns. I am a single mother and they are not there to judge anyone in fact they have been very supportive and helpful .

Last year we handed out treat bags on Halloween with info about jesus and the kids got dressed up and we walked around . The church that we go to  is  run by people in their 30,s. The teenagers are ones who run Sunday class. They make it fun for the kids

It is not really the church but old ways of individuals.  It does not stop me from going to church.

Honestly we live in the 25th century why would you be bothered with what strangers  think.? They shouldn’t be going to church if they are gossiping and judging people !

Sherima said it best, they aren’t there to judge and were also unbelievably supportive of me and my daughter. I know a lot of them quite well now and although I don’t attend a any services (it’s really not my thing) my daughter loves the clubs they do, she’s been so welcomed by them that they make a place for her even if they’re full. Give them a try and see what’s what 😀

Exactly ! my daughter is not forming sentences as she is slightly autistic but she’s been saying amen alot and getting on stage and dancing when the hymns are sung.

The  children activities  are good fun especially at Xmas and easter. The place is run by young people so I don’t mind taking her .

They don’t do RE at school so it’s important that my daughter knows about God and that social networking sites is not a religion! If she doesn’t want to go it will not be a problem but at least I have done my bit.

St Lukes Holloway. Pastor Dave recently retired but he was always very welcome on gay families, single parents, everyone really 🙂
