    Hello,

I am going through the start of separation. My wife and wish to do this separation as amicably as possible however there are bound to be some conflicts as we go through this process.

I want to know if as a father if I have my 3 kids 50% off the time if I have to pay child maintenance and spousal maintenance?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes, if you both have equal day to day care of child(50/50) then no maintenance due. Spousal is separate issue but I don’t know much about it.

    hi,

great your thinking about how to do things amicably, and are mindful of conflicts. for specific advice you are probably better calling the gingerbread helpline.

from personal experience, relate is a fantastic charity that can offer you both support individually, & mediation or resolution counselling, can really make all the difference especially for the kids to see you both have the support you need & get through it healthily.

sorry about steve, he types out his backside & spams a lot of misinformation on here.. maintenance will be calculated based on earnings & assets to, in addition to any shared care – so you could have 50/50 & both end up paying some amount or if one earns significantly more, this can have effects too. You’ll need specialist advice about spousal payments; but this is separate.

    Calculate your child maintenance – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Gov website has a calculator to work out CMS for your circumstances, but still worth calling the helpline too ๐Ÿ™‚

    Good luck with everything ๐Ÿ™‚
