Hi can anyone help me I’ve had the most awful shock of my life . I have a son who is now 18 years old I have brought him up all he’s life by myself completely single . When I was 4 mths pregnant I had spilt with he’s father and when I was 8 and half mths pregnant the fathers mother called me to tell me he had been in an accident and past away . Up until last week I have thought he was dead and just found out he isn’t and that he’s been living a nice life and is all ok . I want to put in some claim he hasn’t supported he’s son he’s whole life , is there anything I can do ? ?

What a sick thing to do!
I know csa do not backdate claims and with your boy being 18 I’m not sure you can make a claim now.
what a shock that must have been!?

    Hi

If you want advice about child maintenance you can ring the Gingerbread helpline when we’re open on 0808 802 0925.  For support regarding your son you can ring Family Lives who specialise in advising about parenting matters.  Their number is 0808 800 2222.   In the meantime here’s a link to our information about getting emotional support   https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/information/you-and-your-childs-wellbeing/

I couldn’t imagine how you feel or how you’d find the words to explain or how it will impact on you and your son.

Take care and give the helpline a call. They’re great xx
