    Hello forum!

My son is 19 months old. We left his dad when my b baby was 8 weeks old. Since then contact has been every other Saturday for a few hours. The father took me to court in January – who ordered overnights start in April, then two overnights from August.

IS this similar contact time others have experienced? I was trying for overnights not to start until my son was 2, but we lost. I was granted primary carer.

My son hides whenever he sees his dad approaching and screams when he takes him. I know this will become easier for him when he’s oder and can understand, but at the moment he is still bewildered.

    hi,

my experience with courts is they allowed overnights when child turned 2 and a half. but I have heard of cases like yours, where overnights are being given earlier. yes it will take a bit of time for your child to adjust to spending nights with dad.

Thank you – the court allowed overnights to begin when my son was just 16 months old and still breastfeeding. I was shocked how early, as I was suggesting wait until he was 2 years old.

    Hi,

Has your ex consistently been seeing his son every other Saturday since child was 8 weeks old? Has he had hands on experience with nappy changing, bathing, naps, etc?
I imagine all those things are taken into account when a court decide on arrangements.
