Hey I’m new to this. Looking to meet new people in Cardiff area as I’m not sure how to go about meeting people nowadays unless it’s through clubs or dating apps. Just looking to make new friends and have some conversations with someone older than 5 ๐Ÿ˜

Hi, I’m 10 mins north of Cardiff and just joined gingerbread tonight. Shocked to see there’s no Cardiff group!

Hi both ๐Ÿ™‚ JoMc77 mine moved out and filed for divorce in February so it’s pretty recent for me too. Leo will be two on the 18th of next month. How old are your boys?

It’s hard but I’m guessing it’s earlier as he’s younger so he won’t know any different. His dad was away a lot as he was in the RAF then chose other jobs where he was away for weeks at a time so thankfully neither of us have noticed his absence too much. He decided that he didn’t want the responsibility of family life and wanted to be single again when Leo turned 16 months old. It definitely gets easier though. How’s your 7 year old coping with the new way of life? x

As I hope you’re doing ok. I’m starting a cardiff group as I noticed there wasn’t one which seems a shame. Does everyone get into town a lot? I only have the one 5 year old so have some spare time while as he’s at school now and job hunting is not going great lol

I actually emailed gingerbread about setting up a Cardiff group as there wasn’t one but being a single parent working full-time and I’m training to be a counsellor too so I’m a bit time-poor! I’d be really keen to give a hand if you need it as I love a project, I just don’t think I could do it all which is why I emailed asking if someone else was in the process of setting it up..

I’m in Cardiff most weekends as I work Monday-Friday. Leo’s favourite place in wet weather is Parc Play so we have a play date then wander round town for lunch and coffee ๐Ÿ™‚ Working so much and spending my free time with him I’m lacking in mum friends as my life is work and Leo so a group would be amazing for me, especially to have people in the same boat knowing how difficult it is to not have the support at home. Friends who have their husbands around just don’t get that the struggle is so different when it’s just you. I think that’s what I miss about living on the RAF base as all the girls there knew what it was like to be a single parent for months on end. I moved back to Wales then went straight into work and the divorce so finding a network of friends for me is last on my priority list ๐Ÿ™

In a nutshell, Cardiff group sounds great and give me a shout if you need a hand ๐Ÿ˜‰

That sounds great. I’ll give you a shout when it’s set up. I know what you mean about friends. I have friends that are married and I have friends that don’t have kids but I don’t have friends that are single with kids. I know people that get every weekend off because the kids are at their other parents. But as an only parent it’s just us 2 24/7. He’s only been away from me one night his whole life and that was to grandma’s so I could decorate the new house ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ so it’ll be nice to make some friends who really know what it’s like. I’m on facebook if anyone else is on there ๐Ÿ˜Š chrissy fulker

Yeah it’s definitely challenging, especially when nobody around you understands what it’s like! If you need a hand with any of the setting up or a second person to do the safeguarding training or whatever just give me a shout. I’ve done a lot through work but always keen to get involved, especially in something that combines me having conversations with other adults and spending time with Leo. I’ll find you on Facebook now ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi I’m from newport and looking to meet single friends also. Be good to chat to other people who have been through similar experiences. I am a relatively new member. I have a 7 year old daughter and have been seperated for about 7 months now. Jen x

A Cardiff group sounds great, and count me in if I can help at all! My eldest son is autistic @Leosmum so I havenโ€™t really explained everything to him yet, itโ€™s still very early days and my ex has yet to move out, but he is going this week after 2 months of living separately which has been pretty tough. Iโ€™m the same with work though, so thatโ€™s kept me sane through all of the upset thankfully.

I’m glad there will be plenty of interest. I’ll let everyone know once I’ve done all the paperwork etc.
