Hello. This is my first post.

I have a 5 year old who I had on my own. Have no childcare or financial support from anyone.

I am desperate for another child and am 40 and need to crack on with this.

I am terrified as to how I will afford childcare for two though.

How do you afford this if you have no maintenance/ family doing childcare pls?

Does UC really pay 85% of childcare costs? Does that happen if you work PT or only FT pls?

With one child in school already your childcare costs should be less than two close together. Also the free hours childcare are more than they used to be. You can look at the entitled to calculator to get an idea of the benefits you might get to help .Good luck. I can understand the desire for a 2nd and recommend it. My girls are 6 and 8, also on my own . H x

Great points Anonymous. I must admit that thinking through how on earth I could afford things delayed my embarking on single motherhood for far too long and in the end I took a being leap .So glad I did . SunshineRiver if you are thinking sperm donor, remember – if you don’t know already – that treatment abroad is a lot cheaper and doable .
