Hi, read with interest about shared custody of children during this pandemic. I separated just before Christmas, and presently I’m paying to keep my ex and children in the marital home, which subsequently means that I cant afford my own place, so had no choice but to move back in with my parents, which are both over 70. Need to know where I stand with seeing my children and them staying here with me overnight as we had agreed prior to the outbreak. It’s a difficult situation and obviously I do not want to put anyone at risk, but my own mental health will suffer if I don’t see my children for weeks. Any advice from anyone please ?

I think you need to be aware of the risk to your parents. Can they isolate in the house – ie they stay upstairs and you downstairs?

Are your ex and the children self isolating? If you cannot isolate yourself from your parents completely, you will need to leave them at least 14 days since break-up of school to ensure no infection.

    Facetime? Skype?
