I have a 3 year old son and have been in work for 2 years since he was 1 paying childcare in a nursery two full days a week. I am on universal credit.
The dilemma I have now is he has been offered a place at pre-school but it’s only 3 hours each morning and my dilemma is that my son might possibly have autism yet the peditriation does not want to diagnose yet till he is 4 but she highly recommends he goes to this pre-school as he will benefit greatly so my issue is now universal credit how will they understand that I might possibly have to leave my job for a year till he starts full time education ? I’ve even looked online for morning jobs such as a support worker and yet to find anything. Also not sure I can cope paying another year of private childcare costs. I’m a single parent working in retail and am scared of how universal credit will handle if I feel it’ best to leave my job so my son goes pre-school ?
