Next week will be my first contact visit with my 2 kids who are currently with my brother abroad due to a sudden Emergency protection order where there were taken from me.

What shall I bring with me to do together? I have a 11 year old girl and 3 year old boy. I have not been to a contact centre before so have no idea what to expect.

Fearing it’s a very sterile environment where I will be watched throughout.

Keeping focused and positive I’m seeing them and it will be great as I will make it great… somehow

Because there is an age gap between your children think of things that they might like to do. Your 3 year old will be interested in things your 11 year old just won’t be. Maybe your 11 might be into gaming so you could try pick up a gaming magazine that you can look at with her. If she is into colouring, pick up a couple of colouring books, one for your son, one for your daughter remembering to pick up some felt pens/crayons too.Don’t be worried about handling any disputes between the children, deal with it like you would deal with it if you were at home with them; these are the kind of things staff will be looking at. Yes you will be watched and that’s part of it, there is nothing you can do about it at the moment but it won’t be a sterile environment. Just be the mum you know you can be xx
