Hello Gingerbread mums and dads! I am new to Gingerbread and would like to just chat to get to know some of you. We could start with who we are and whereabouts in the country we are, what we enjoy and what brings us to the gingerbread forum. But lets keep the chat safe – no identifying details please!
About me: My name is Lissie and I am in my twenties. I live with my parents in West Lancashire with my 6 month old son and I have been solo on my parenting journey since I was 6 weeks pregnant.
What I enjoy: One thing that has kept me going through my struggles as a single mother during the Covid-19 era is long walks, yoga, growing plants, and nurturing closer friendships with those I had lost touch with prior to moving back. I am also very creative so I like to draw, paint, do digital art and embroidery.
What brings me to gingerbread? All around me I see examples of “happy” couples and families. I am at that age where most people I knew in school/university are becoming serious with their partners – moving in, getting engaged, getting the dog together etc you get the picture! I KNOW that the positive face we often put out to the world isn’t the truth. I have joined gingerbread because I don’t see any representations of myself in my everyday life. I feel very misunderstood and maligned by society for being a single mother. I just want to find a community of my own.
So comment below, introduce yourself, let’s form some new connections 🙂
