I’m new today. I have not long found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant. My boyfriend left me around 3 weeks ago it was on a Monday. The Tuesday I lost my job. I lost everything. I house share & my family live up north I live down south. I don’t start my new job until the 2nd of September. It’s so fresh and I am so afraid. How will I cope? What help do we get? I’ve not had a baby prior I am just confused scared and lonely. Advice would be hugely appreciated!

    Hi Annalou890,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting your question. I’m sure you’ll find the forum a welcoming and supportive place.

There’s a lot to think about when you separate during pregnancy. There’s lots of information you might find useful on our website here: https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/information/maternity-paternity-and-adoption/

You can also call our free helpline to talk to one of our advisers about the financial help you’ll be entitled to: https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/what-we-do/contact-us/helpline/

    Hi Annalou,

I hope you are OK, so much has happened and finding out you are pregnant must be so hard , and scary but also amazing. Have you spoken to your ex about it? Or your family. If you can talk to people and get support even if they are not nearby it may help.  I have two teenage children and have struggled brining them up in an abusive relationship but they are my life and so worth the struggles. You may have a local support group you can go to your can search on the ginger bread site https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/community/single-parent-groups/groups/

I am in Buckinghamshire and if I can help at all please let me know. Sending hugs. Anna
