Newknd – I was realising to the op.
i think that my responses are based on someone who feels incredibly vulnerable and hurt by the situation she has found herself in. On that basis my advice is from a place that means that both baby’s and mothers needs are met the best. The father doesn’t lose out by my advice and suggestions beyond the fact that he obviously will have less contact due to his choices that op and the baby have to now live with.
The father gets to bond, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of what is best for a post partum mother and more importantly the baby.
You sound as though you’ve made your situation work for you. Sadly many people don’t have the same experience and I think it’s unlikely that many women in that situation would find comfort from their ex being present when in labour and so incredibly vulnerable.
One size never fits all eh!
