Fiona Weir, Gingerbread’s Chief Executive said:
“This Bill breathes life back into the Government’s target to end child poverty in just over a decade. By enshrining the child poverty pledge in law, future Governments will have to take action to eradicate poverty.”
“It is crucial that the Bill’s commitments for the children of tomorrow are also backed by action to support poor children today. Millions of children in Britain have their childhoods blighted by poverty and hardship. The Government needs to take action now to support poor families struggling through the recession.
