One Parent Families|Gingerbread applauds Gordon Brown's decision to embed in law the 2020 target to eradicate child poverty which is fantastic news for the nation's children.
Chief Executive of the charity Fiona Weir said:
"The commitment to tackling child poverty is the defining mark of this Government and we are delighted by the decision to take the commitment further by enshrining the 2020 target to eradicate child poverty in legislation. This is fantastic news for the nation's children and a move we lobbied hard for. We hope all parties across the political spectrum will unite behind a new law to ensure the fight against child poverty goes all the way to 2020."
