<font class="titleid1siteid0"></font>
February 2005

Research into lone parents' experience of Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit involving telephone interviews with 100 lone parents.

This study particularly focuses on the problems lone parents have had reporting changes to the Inland Revenue, along with the Revenue's own administrative problems. It also looks at the financial hardships created by the recovery of tax credit overpayments.

Also includes recommendations for improvements in communication by the Inland Revenue, the way that overpayments are recovered and the operation of the childcare element of Working Tax Credit.
