7. Breaches of confidentiality

7.1. Section 3 above sets out the procedure where there is a risk of harm to a child or any other person arising during a call to the Single Parent Helpline or advice service.

7.2. Any other specific and authorised breaches of this policy can only be made on the authority of the Chief Executive or their named deputy or someone authorised to act for them.

7.3. Gingerbread recognises that occasions may arise where members of staff, agents acting for Gingerbread, volunteers or trustees feel they need to breach confidentiality. Gingerbread recognises, however, that any breach of confidentiality may damage the reputation of Gingerbread’s services and therefore has to be treated with the most serious of approaches and can lead to dismissal.
