MEETING PLACE
There are a number of ways for you to meet other members of One Parent Families|Gingerbread.
Network of self-help groups
Our network of self-help groups offers you a place to go with your children to meet other lone parent families. For an up-to-date list of contact information for groups in your area please click here or try our new interactive map below to find group locations.
Groups may be:
Affiliated: Affiliated Groups tend to be larger groups with a formal committee and a regular meeting place. They may run a number of activities or trips for group members and there may be an annual joining fee to aid administration costs. They are entitled to use the name Gingerbread through their affiliation agreement with us.
Friendship: Friendship Groups are smaller, informal groups that do not use the name Gingerbread and are more about meeting people in similar situations without the formality and rules of an Affiliated Group. They may meet in cafes, in each others houses or wherever they feel comfortable. Events in Friendship Groups will often be things like coffee mornings, picnics or other low cost activities. Phone numbers for Friendship Groups are available only to members of One Parent Families|Gingerbread.
For information about starting your own group please click here and read the materials under 'Friendship Group starter pack'.
