Our finances

Gingerbread’s income has grown steadily in the last two years despite the difficult economic climate, enabling us to grow the support we give to single parents and their families at a time when demand is high.

In the year to April 2011, we achieved an income of £3.57m, an increase of 14% on the previous year. Expenditure stood at £3.16m

A range of statutory funders support us, including the Department for Education and HMRC for the provision and development of information and advice services. We also receive funding from several local authorities and providers of skills training to deliver courses helping single parents find a job or return to work.

Marks & Spencer and Barclaycard have both been longstanding partners for the provision of employability training and work placements.

Other funding comes from the Big Lottery Fund, trusts and foundations, companies, and individual supporters who give one-off or regular gifts, take part in sponsored events, or leave a gift in their will.

Thank you to all of those who have supported us over the last year.

How we spend Gingerbread’s income

For every £1 Gingerbread raises, 93p goes directly on charitable activity supporting single parent families, 6p on generating more funds, and 1p on governance.
